Former Wham! singer, George Michael is currently battling ‘severe community acquired pneumonia’ at the AKH Hospital in Vienna, reports Daily Mail. George was rushed to the hospital last week just hours before he was to take the stage. Immediate family members, as well as boyfriend, Fadi Fawaz have flown to Vienna to remain beside the "very sick" singer. The remainder of his Symphonica tour has been canceled.
Via The Mail:
"A statement was issued by Prof. Dr. Christoph Zielinski, Chairman, Department of Medicine General Hospital - Medical University Vienna, Austria and Prof. Dr. Thomas Staudinger, Specialist in Internal Medicine and Intensive Care Medicine said then:
'George Michael has severe community acquired pneumonia and is being treated as an inpatient.'
'His condition has stabilized and he is responding to treatment. From the current point of view, the time until recovery cannot be estimated, but he will not be able to perform the rest of the tour. Besides medical treatment, complete rest and peace and quiet are mandatory.'"
Having had pneumonia myself, I know it has to be quite serious for one to be hospitalized for it.
Although George has had his fair share of shenanigans in recent years, and we love posting about it, we still adore George and his music. Click below to enjoy a Wham! holiday classic, Last Christmas. This video always makes me want to have a snowball fight!
Get well very soon, George!
