CHALLENGE TIME! Oh boy. A little healthy competition will be good for the Glee club...right? Er...maybe. The theme this week is duets, and with the promise of a free dinner at the illustrious Breadsticks. The teams split up:
Finn and Rachel (ooooh, shocker). These lovebirds sing a pretty inappropriate rendition of "With You I'm Born Again," both decked out in clerical wear. However, inspired by the previous week's "grilled cheesus," the throwing of the competition was intentional.
Newcomer Sam teams with Quinn. These two seem to have a budding romance on their hands, as reluctant about it as Quinn is, but their flicker of a flame shines through in their duet, "Lucky."
Ya know Mike Chan? Tina's good-looking (and even better dancing) Asian arm-candy? Yea, ever hear him sing? No? Good. Yikes. For someone who can dance as well as he can, it's really shocking that he can't carry a tune to save his life. However, he and Tina invent a brilliant plan, in which their duet, "Sing!" is half spoken, by Mike, and half sung, by Tina. For a guy who can't sing, it was spoken beautifully!
Kurt, who's father is recovering (yay!) decides, after coming onto Sam, that he doesn't need anyone else to perform a completely spine-tingling, kickbutt performance of "Le Jazz Hot." He and his high kick earn him a roaring round of applause.
Brittany and Artie. Oh boy. Brittany uses Artie for his beautiful voice, plain and simple. The ever-vicious Santana doesn't let that one drop. She tells Artie that Brittany's sexual - yes, sexual - favor for him was only to steal his voice, and win the prize. Artie is needless to say crushed, and Brittany actually feels terrible. He, however, finds it hard to accept her apology. Again, needless to say, they drop out.
Mercedes and Santana. Yeah, a tad too much sass to handle in one pair! However, the two team up to deliever an earth-shattering performance of "River Deep/Mountain High." Dayum! It was totally hot!
So who won?! Drumroll please........
Sam and Quinn! Their "so freaking charming" duet landed them paired up at Breadsticks, however, the money wasn't used. According to Quinn, the man is supposed to pay for the first date...oooooh! What will become of this budding romance?!
Rachel, in her never ending attempt to make the world a little bit brighter (in her image, anyway) sympathizes with Kurt's lonliness and feelings of being an outcast, and appeals to him after the fact with a duet proposal. They sing a mash-up of "Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy" that was down-right heartwarming.
Absolutely tune in next week: It's the long awaited "Rocky Horror Glee Show"!! Rocky Horror is celebrating it's 35th anniversary! I cannot wait!
So what do you think: are Sam and Quinn going to turn out to be more than friends? Does Brittany have genuine feelings for Artie? Leave a comment!
