Say what? Well, this is interesting news.  According to Deadline, Angelina Jolie may be interested in directing this smut-fest.  In the past few weeks, my own personal life -- from my book clubs to my ladies' night out -- has been infiltrated with chatter about this damn book, and I'm still resisting the read for the time being.  For those of you who don't know, 50 Shades of Grey was originally a Twilight fanfiction that branched out into a published book, became a trilogy and then jettisoned into the stratosphere, selling a gazillion copies - Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed are the second and third installment.  

The story is about Ana, a just out of university young woman who enters into a "contracted" S&M bondage relationship with a rich dude named Christian Grey as his "submissive."  From what I've heard, it's intense smutty goodness.  Like I said, I've not read the book but my girlfriends swear it is HOT. 

So back to Angelina Jolie, not to be all Debbie Downer but I can't imagine she would go from writing and directing a political drama romance set during the Bosnian war, In the Land of Blood and Honey, to directing what critics are essentially calling 'mommy porn.'  I get that she's a kinky wench and that she probably has no qualms with the subject, it just doesn't seem like her cup of professional tea at the moment.  I mean she's getting married to her babies' daddy and doing Disney's "Maleficent" for Pete's sake!  If we were to push the rewind button 10 years, I can see that Angie going for it with aplomb.  

We'll be keeping an eye on this story...stay tuned.
