Here are highlights from Rob Pattinson's Q&A from the Eclipse press conference.
What drives you to succeed and what do you drive?
RP: “Fear of failure, (laughs) and inadequacy complex and I just drive rental cars because I don't own a car”
Has Edward changed?
RP: Yes, he has flaws in the first two movies earlier on in the series, which is caused from his dislocation from reality so when he finds one thing to hold onto, that's where his possessiveness comes from and as the series goes on he accepts his part in the contemporary world and I think all the things that were deemed flaws before start fading away, at least that's how I'm playing him. I think he's coming out of his shell a bit in Eclipse.”
Would you ever compete with another over a woman?
RP: “No, I don't. I'm not good at it, (hesitates) I guess I just leave it alone...I would never be in Jacob's position.”
Have you ever gotten into a fight with someone over the love of a woman?
RP: (after much pondering) “uh, yeah probably, I don't know if it was about love, it was more like pride” (laughs)
Do you think Edward will dominate your career?
RP: “I'm not sure...um, I don't know, I hope not.”
RP: “Do I believe in a soul? ...uh, yeah, definitely”
What was it like to fight a girl?
RP: “It's really hard to do stuff with her (Bryce) because she is the gentlest person, and she's always kinda laughing...it was fun”
Do you understand the fantasy of it?
RP: No, not really, I guess they want everything to be like Twilight, the truth is I wish I had a few more hours sleep to think about it”
Why should someone go see Eclipse?
RP: “...I guess if you've never seen it, it's the most accessible of the three, and it's a solid story by itself and more of an action film...”
Some of the questions and answers were too long to transcribe, but in a nutshell, Rob really enjoyed working with Taylor because it was something different from the usual Bella and Edward dynamic. When asked about his hair being short for Breaking Dawn, Rob replied that he didn't even think about it and joked that maybe "Edward just got a haircut." Evidently, vampires can get haircuts in the Twilight universe.
Funnily, when asked about Breaking Dawn, Rob mentioned that he had not yet read the last book and had only heard rumors of what happens in the story - what?! Rob said that he only found out about BD being two parts from the press release. He also revealed that he just watch Twilight for the first time a few weeks ago! Shocking, I know! What can we say? Rob's not your typical guy, but he sure was nice, easy going and soo cute!!!
Well, what did you think of Rob's answers? Were they what you expected him to say? I admit, I loved his explanation of how Edward had evolved from the first two movies. Sigh. Tell us what you think.
