Beady Eye is the new post Oasis band who formed in 2009, keeping three core members,Liam Gallagher with vocal duties, Gem Archer on guitar, piano and backing vocals and bassist, Andy Bell who has now switched back to guitar. They have a new drummer, Chris Sharrock and when playing live will be joined by Jeff Wootton and Matt Jones on bass and keyboard duties. They have teased us and tempted us by bringing out two excellent limited edition singles 'Bring the Light' and 'Four Letter Word' late last year. Both tunes are available online but, thank goodness, Beady Eye will be releasing their much anticipated debut album 'Different Gear, Still Speeding' produced by Steve Lillywhite on February 28, and I personally CAN NOT WAIT!!!
This is their official debut single and is the first commercially available single released on 7" vinyl including a new B-side track 'Two of a Kind'! They have taken the tempo down a notch with 'The Roller' compared to the first two singles, which is quite refreshing! It has a very 60s inspired psychedelic, feelgood sound starting with guitars then Liam's distinct, familiar vocals sounding stronger than ever, a great guitar solo part way through, an upbeat melody that has plenty of bite, a dash of the Beetle's and a nod to Liam's hero, John Lennon's 'Instant Karma', so all in all a superb classic rock 'n' roll tune!
I am loving the split screen video with the band playing inside a 'Wall of Death' with girls on motorbikes! How cool!
Their first UK mini tour in March 2011 sold out in minutes, and they just announced today they will be doing another UK and Ireland tour in April 2011. Best get your tickets now!
Happy listening...
