Middle-earth doesn't give New Zealand the middle-finger after all. Yay!!!!!!!!!!! Rivendell and Hobbiton stays put in New Zealand ending months of negotiations, turmoil and even union bans, reports Deadline Hollywood.
Prime Minister John Key announced in a press conference that both back-to-back The Hobbit prequels will film in New Zealand. As part of negotiations, Warners will receive and enormous $15 million tax break and New Zealand government will contribute $10 million to offset the film's marketing. In return, thousands of Kiwis return to work, and New Zealand get to use the film's assets to market New Zealand as a tourist destination. We said it before, they want to keep the tagline: "Visit New Zealand, Home to Middle-earth."
Well done, everyone! Now put them furry feet on and get to work!
